Our Attorneys

Mr. Wachtel handles general and complex civil litigation matters and specializes in the areas of banking/financial institution, employment, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, land use and real estate law.  He also has extensive experience in loan work-outs, bank operations and bank regulatory compliance issues.    Mr. Wachtel has represented clients in these fields since 1976.  He has represented major Japanese, Korean and U.S. banks.  He has also represented the FDIC in distressed bank cases.  Mr. Wachtel represents clients in state and federal courts as well as in local administrative proceedings, mediation and arbitration.

Education

Mr. Wachtel is a 1973 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (with honors) and a 1976 graduate from the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law.  Mr. Wachtel has lectured for the California Bankers Association on banking and employment law. 

Profesional Bio

After five years working in the Office of the General Counsel at Bank of America, Mr. Wachtel jointed a medium size San Francisco general practice firm in 1982 where as a partner he became chair of the firm’s litigation department and the firm’s Risk Management Partner.

After 27 years with the San Francisco firm Mr. Wachtel started his own firm in Mill Valley, The Law Offices of Kenneth R. Wachtel.

Community Involvement

Mr. Wachtel has extensive community involvement which includes:

1. Elected to the Mill Valley City Council in 2007(Mayor of Mill Valley in 2015 and 2011)


2. Chair of the Richardson’s Bay Regional Authority (2011-2012)


3. Member of Community Development Block Grant task force


4. Member of the Mill Valley Planning Commission (six years, Chair for one year)


5. Twice selected to be a member of the Mill Valley Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee


6. Member of the Mill Valley Affordable Housing Committee
